Your Tax Return must be submitted to HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) to be received by them no later than 31st January following the tax year. The tax year runs to 5th April, so the 2005/06 Tax Return covering the year to 5th April 2006, must be delivered to HMRC by 31st January 2007.

We control the processing of all of our clients' Tax Return carefully to ensure that they are all submitted by the 31st January deadline. This is important, as a £100 penalty will automatically be charged for late submissions. Only in certain circumstances will this be subsequently reduced.

We use software to compile and print our clients' Tax Returns. We will discuss your tax affairs with you, and where possible will make recommendations. A copy of the Return will be sent to you for you to approve. Once you have signed and approved your Return, we will submit it electronically to HMRC. There are three main advantages from this:

* Your Return doesn't get lost in the post.
* Stops HMRC staff entering data incorrectly into HMRC computer system.
* Avoids long delays before Return is processed.

Once completed and approved, we will send you a bound copy of your Tax Return with accompanying computations for you to keep. Clients often find this useful as it is a convenient record of their past income. It can also be particularly helpful when wanting to seek a new loan, mortgage or pension.
