Gary Jobsey is a chartered accountant and chartered management accountant with wide experience. Since qualifying he has worked in commerce at Tesco and Black Horse Agencies where he was head of finance for a large regional company.
Gary left commerce in 1991 and started to develop a practice of his own, coupled with acting as a freelance tax specialist and software developer. At this time, Gary qualified as a Microsoft certified professional with Visual FoxPro, Visual Basic and SQL Server. Systems worked on included BT International, First Telecom, Euphony, Eurotunnel, and top ten firm of accountants PKF.
Since 2001, Gary's own accountancy practice has taken up all of his time. He has an office at home, where he lives with his wife Patricia, and two step children Alexander and William. Patricia is also a chartered accountant, and works as a Finance Director for a Housing Association.
Gary's main personal interests are sports and music. He used to be a keen badminton player, but had to retire through injury. He now enjoys running and going to the gym. Gary enjoys watching and helping Alexander's teams with their football, and also supports Watford and Brighton.
Gary also enjoys music, particularly 20th century British classical music. Non classical past favourites have included The Beatles, Fairport Convention, Love, Jefferson Airplane, Cream, Al Stewart, Radiohead, Tori Amos, K.T.Tunstall etc. The 20th century was particularly rich one in British Classical music, and his favourites here include Simpson, Brian, Elgar, Foulds, Howells, Rubbra, Vaughan Williams and many others. Non British musical interests are wide and varied but especially chamber music and string quartets from Beethoven to Shostakovich. At the time of updating this, he is enjoying the Schubert lieder cycle with Matthias Goerne and the late Schubert piano sonatas with Imogen Cooper. Bruckner's symphonies and masses are also particular favourites. Finally, Gary is the Treasurer for and takes an active involvement in the promotion of The Robert Simpson Society and The Havergal Brian Society
